More house insurance reviews
Story link: More house insurance reviews
Finance Markets continues to publish a range of home insurance reviews on their site, and underlines the caveat that you get what you pay for.
It seems budget providers come under particular fire for not providing enough support or clearing claims faster.
We’ve already covered Prudential, LV, and Aviva here, but FM includes a few more:
Barclays Home Insurance
Churchill Home Insurance
Columbus Direct Home Insurance
Direct Line Home Insurance
Nationwide Home Insurance
There’s something different for everyone, but the message remains clear - make sure you have the house insurance cover you actually need, and don’t skimp on price.

NU home insurance reviewed

Norwich Union get their home insurance product reviewed, and it gets a general thumbs up:
“Norwich Union Home Insurance receives a surprising number of complaints, especially considering the otherwise well received and praised insurance services otherwise provided by Norwich Union.
However, most complaints seem focused on the length of time to get a home insurance claim completed, which is a remarkably common complaint raised across most home insurance providers.
The main thing to watch for is a price increase on renewal, so it’s probably worth shopping around after your first year, or else challenging Norwich Union to match its original quote. ”
It seems that complaints about how long it takes to complete a claim are annoyingly common among home insurance providers, at least Norwich Union does retain a general well regarded level of customer service.
LV home insurance reviewed

Liverpool Victoria also gets a review of it’s home insurance product at Finance Markets - but the company seems to be let down by a general impression of trying to be cheap and cheerful, resulting in complaints about the level of customer service:
Liverpool Victoria offers a competitive price on their home insurance policy. They also offer a wide range of benefits when you sign up to the policy.
However, while LV competes on price points, the danger is that this comes at the expense of good customer care.
If it’s budget home insurance you’re after, then LV certain competes with the best in terms of price. The question is, which is more important, the level of service or the cost of the policy?
Prudential home insurance reviewed

Prudential gets its home insurance product reviewed at Finance Markets, and it’s nice to see a generally positive impression of the service and quality:
Review: Prudential Home Insurance
Prudential offer a professional, straight-forward home insurance service.
In terms of value for money, this may be one of the best. The customer service is strong and it is relatively simple to process a claim.
That’s quite a positive overall view, so congrats to Prudential on the big thumbs up. :)

Barclays Home Insurance Reviewed
Story link: Barclays Home Insurance Reviewed
The financial news portal Finance Markets publishes a review of Barclays home insurance, but gives it less than top marks over customer complaints.
The main contention seems to have arisen after more recent big flooding events across the UK, which appears to have left Barclays home insurance customers less than happy with the speed of service:
Barclays Home Insurance Review
Overall, Barclays offer good terms on their contents insurance, in terms of loss due to theft. However, for a secure buildings insurance when you need it most - especially for property at risk of flooding - it may be better to look elsewhere if you’re worried about customer service issues.
Even still, it may be unfair to rate Barclay’s on extreme mass flooding events, which I’m sure many customers will have had issues with across all insurance providers.
Still, it’s worth bearing in mind in context when shopping around.

Nationwide Home Insurance Reviewed
Story link: Nationwide Home Insurance Reviewed
The finance news and information portal, Finance Markets, reviews home insurance from the Nationwide Building Society.
The general comment is that Nationwide home insurance is relatively cheap but not necessarily the cheapest - but generally offers a very good customer service that cheaper providers may not satisfy:
Nationwide Home Insurance Review
They offer great customer care, plenty of coverage and their quotes are generally quite competitive. So if you do need home insurance of any type, then they are definitely worth consideration.
Their 30% discount when you buy both buildings and contents insurance online is as good a deal as any.
So a general thumbs up to Nationwide’s home insurance on this one:
You could cut your costs with Nationwide home insurance:
* Pay 25% less when you buy buildings and contents insurance together
* Extra 5% discount if you buy online
* Plus, we don’t charge you extra for paying monthly by Direct Debit

Churchill Home Insurance Reviewed
Story link: Churchill Home Insurance Reviewed
The site Finance Markets reviews Churchill home insurance, and generally gives the provider a pretty good overall comment:
Churchill Home Insurance Review
relative to other insurers in the market, Churchill is one of the better ones. Additionally, it is also the only one with few complaints about the repair work it contracts out to local firms. This may be a critical advantage.
That’s quite a positive comment considering the review allows for customer criticisms, and certainly suggests Churchill as one of the better home insurers.

Direct Line Home Insurance Reviewed
Story link: Direct Line Home Insurance Reviewed
The financial news site, Finance Markets, has published a review of Direct Line home insurance which is generally positive.
However, the site does make the point that while Direct Line sells itself as cheap, this may come at the cost of customer service:
Direct Line Home Insurance Review
Direct Line impress with their competitive prices and the simple and rapid signing-up process.
However, it seems the trade off comes when it is time to make a claim. With some customers feeling that they get poor help and advice on offer, making the claim is not a welcoming prospect. A
It also makes a point that rather than renew automatically, it may be a good idea to cancel at the end of the policy and re-apply.
