Cover unusual possessions

Story link: Cover unusual possessions

Its very hard to value possessions that are just of sentimental value, the problem being that they can’t actually be replaced and usually the owners can’t put a value to the possession.
This being said its still worth insuring the possessions so at least the owners get something back for their loss, its usually wise to consult the insurance company to check the possession hasn’t been over or under valued.

Cover unusual possessions

People with expensive or vulnerable possessions should ensure they are covered by their home insurance - no matter how strange the item, Confused.com has claimed.

The group said individuals should be aware that they can get cover for unusual pieces.

Barclays Home Insurance Reviewed

Story link: Barclays Home Insurance Reviewed

The financial news portal Finance Markets publishes a review of Barclays home insurance, but gives it less than top marks over customer complaints.

The main contention seems to have arisen after more recent big flooding events across the UK, which appears to have left Barclays home insurance customers less than happy with the speed of service:

Barclays Home Insurance Review

Overall, Barclays offer good terms on their contents insurance, in terms of loss due to theft. However, for a secure buildings insurance when you need it most - especially for property at risk of flooding - it may be better to look elsewhere if you’re worried about customer service issues.

Even still, it may be unfair to rate Barclay’s on extreme mass flooding events, which I’m sure many customers will have had issues with across all insurance providers.

Still, it’s worth bearing in mind in context when shopping around.

Story link: Boy jailed for theft

You some times wonder how a individual of such a young age gets so involved in crimes like the one mentioned below, surely they must have been out at all hours commiting these crimes?
I think it sets the tone for others thinking of doing the same, much like a harsh warning.

Hopefully this will be 30 of hundreds of thieves that are caught, and punished accordingly.

Nationwide Home Insurance Reviewed

Story link: Nationwide Home Insurance Reviewed

The finance news and information portal, Finance Markets, reviews home insurance from the Nationwide Building Society.

The general comment is that Nationwide home insurance is relatively cheap but not necessarily the cheapest - but generally offers a very good customer service that cheaper providers may not satisfy:

Nationwide Home Insurance Review

They offer great customer care, plenty of coverage and their quotes are generally quite competitive. So if you do need home insurance of any type, then they are definitely worth consideration.

Their 30% discount when you buy both buildings and contents insurance online is as good a deal as any.

So a general thumbs up to Nationwide’s home insurance on this one:

You could cut your costs with Nationwide home insurance:

* Pay 25% less when you buy buildings and contents insurance together
* Extra 5% discount if you buy online
* Plus, we don’t charge you extra for paying monthly by Direct Debit

Churchill Home Insurance Reviewed

Story link: Churchill Home Insurance Reviewed

The site Finance Markets reviews Churchill home insurance, and generally gives the provider a pretty good overall comment:

Churchill Home Insurance Review

relative to other insurers in the market, Churchill is one of the better ones. Additionally, it is also the only one with few complaints about the repair work it contracts out to local firms. This may be a critical advantage.

That’s quite a positive comment considering the review allows for customer criticisms, and certainly suggests Churchill as one of the better home insurers.
