Wedding plans? Check your home contents insurance
Story link: Wedding plans? Check your home contents insurance
Most normal house insurance policies for contents only cover up to a specific value amount, but certain occasions - not least weddings and Christmas - may result in your home containing gifts which exceed your insurance coverage.
National Wedding Show: Don’t forget insurance, engaged couples are warned
Direct Line Home Insurance is reminding happy couples planning their wedding to make sure they are fully insured for their big day.
The firm explained that when the cost of the dress, suits, decorations, photos and gifts are all added up, there are a lot of items of extra value being placed in the home.
In the case of loss or theft, a couple’s house insurance may not extend to cover these items, it warned.
Some insurance policies will protected you.
For example, Nationwide Home Insurance will apparently cover special occasions, ie:
Increased cover for birthdays, weddings and Christmas, with cover rising by 10% for 30 days before and after
It’s definitely worth checking your contents insurance policy to see whether issues like this are covered.
